February 2015: First Exchange bank hosted its 20th Annual Groundhog Day Breakfast on Monday, February 2, 2015. The event had near record attendance with approximately 250 attendees. The featured speaker was Dr. E. Gordon Gee, President of West Virginia University.
Education was the theme of this year’s event. During his speech, Dr. Gee spoke on what education means for the future of North Central West Virginia, and our nation. Speakers from the bank discussed the role that First Exchange Bank plays in education and the community. “We are a Partner in Education with 9 area schools,” said First Exchange Bank president, Bill Goettel. “Through the Partners in Education program, we not only provide financial support, but we also teach students basic financial principles in the classroom,” he explained. “We also provide education to the public through value added events, such as this, our Annual Groundhog Day Breakfast, seminars for real estate investors, and a variety of other community functions.” Goettel also noted that the staff of First Exchange Bank have personally donated over $100,000 to their Partners in Education since the inception of the Partners in Education program. Thanks to all who attended this year's breakfast!
